Our Story
Sydney Terrain Surveyors is more than just a business — it’s the shared vision of two brothers, Lachlan and Andrew Broome, shaped by decades of industry experience and a family connection to surveying that spans generations.
Our grandfather, Harold, was a survey draftsman for the Victorian Electricity Commission. Though we were too young to know him well, his legacy left a lasting impression.
Over the years, we’ve worked across all facets of surveying, delivering cadastral, construction, and engineering surveys on everything from suburban lots to major infrastructure projects. Starting our own firm was always in the back of our minds. After learning from some of the best in the field, we knew it was time to bring our skills together in a family-run business that values quality over volume.
Today, Lachlan focuses on cadastral work and operations, while Andrew leads construction setout and on-site delivery. Together, we bring big-project experience with small-business care — backed by a commitment to clear communication and survey work that stands up to scrutiny.

The Process
1. Consultation & Scope
We start by discussing your needs — whether it’s a boundary survey, construction setout, or detail and level plan. We assess site conditions, project goals, council requirements, and timelines.
2. Quotation & Booking
You’ll receive a detailed proposal outlining scope, deliverables, timeframes, and costs. Once approved, we schedule your survey and assign the right team and equipment.
3. Mission Planning
No two surveys are the same. Before stepping foot on-site, we carry out thorough pre-survey research — including searches of publicly available records, compiling previous plans, title information, and performing relevant calculations. This preparation allows us to plan the best approach and ensure accuracy and efficiency during fieldwork.
4. Field Survey
Our Surveyors attend site with Total Stations, GPS, and precision levels. We capture high-accuracy spatial data — from boundaries and structures to topography and control marks — based on the agreed scope.
5. Data Processing & Drafting
Collected data is processed using advanced survey software to ensure accuracy and consistency. We then draft your plans tailored for DA submission, design, construction, or registration.
6. Quality & Compliance Review
All plans go through rigorous checks for accuracy and compliance with relevant standards, regulations, and job requirements. Where needed, plans are signed off by a Registered Surveyor.
7. Delivery & Ongoing Support
Final plans are provided in PDF, DWG. We remain available to coordinate with your architect, builder, or certifier — and provide support throughout your project.
